In an instant, everyone drew their pistols and pointed them at each other.
Barbossa and Elizabeth pointed their pistols at Jack, Will pointed his gun at Barbossa, Jack pointed his pistol at Will, and soon pulled out another gun and pointed it at Barbossa.
Barbossa also drew a second gun and pointed it at Gibbs, while Elizabeth's second gun was aimed at Barbossa.
While these things were happening, Pantel and Rajetti were busy messing about with untying themselves.
Despite the bewilderment of the situation, with four guns pointed at him simultaneously, Barbosa didn't look particularly concerned.
He glanced at the various pistols and smiled.
"Okay then." He said, taking a deep breath, he was already prepared for this moment.
He knew that rescuing Jack from Davy Jones' underwater grave would be one of the easier tasks for him.
Now, he needs to tackle a more difficult task - convincing Jack to join the fraternity.
This scheming captain certainly doesn't want to go, and many pirate kings don't want to see him again.
But this is the only way to make the sea a safe place for pirates again, and Captain Jack Sparrow must participate if he lives or dies.
That meant working together, Barbosa went on: "A fraternity is a party in Shipwreck Cove, Jack, you and I are going, it's non-negotiable."
"That's what I want to talk about," objected Jack. "If there's any pirate party, I'll steer my ship the other way."
"The pirates are uniting against Beckett." Elizabeth joined their conversation, "and you're a pirate." She moved the second gun away from Barbossa and aimed it at Jack.
In return, Jack's gun that was originally aimed at Will was also aimed at her, but Elizabeth stared at him and dared not look her squarely.
She wasn't about to give up, Lord Beckett was a menace and a murderer, the East India Trading Company was a plague on the seas and they had to be stopped.
Standing on the deck, Will drew his second gun, which he could now aim at both Jack and Barbossa.
"Hit it or not, you can't run away," Will said.
"If we don't stand together, they'll catch us one by one, and there will be no one left but you," Barbosa said.
They all knew that this was by no means alarmist talk, and Lord Cutler Beckett was happiest to see that the pirates were all wiped out.
Jack grinned: "Then I'll be the last one, I like to say that, Captain Jack Sparrow, the last pirate."
"Then you'll be fighting Jones alone," Barbosa said. "How about including that in your plan?"
"Still trying," Jack admitted, "but I'll never go back to that grave, Barbossa, I promise."
He pulled the bolt of the gun pointed at Barbossa and fired.
Click.
Barbossa, Will and Elizabeth were also shot.
Click, click, click.
Nothing happened, no bullets, no smoke, and they examined the pistols carefully, confused.
"The gunpowder is wet."
Will sighed and threw the useless pistol aside: "Then we are in agreement on this for the time being."
"What we need right now is water and the charts show a small island nearby," he said.
He pointed to a point on the chart, then to a small patch of land in the distance.
"There is a fresh water spring there, we can resupply first, and then continue to shoot each other."
It's a sensible plan, and they all acknowledge that water is now needed more than anything else.
Jack gave Barbossa a suspicious look. "You lead the landing party," he said. "I'll stay on board."
"I'm not going to put my ship in your command," Barbossa said mockingly.
"And he's not going to put his ship under your command," Will interjected. "I have an idea, you both disembark and give me command of this ship."
Barbossa and Jack are both horrified and indignant at the idea of Weil commanding their ship.
"Temporarily," Will added, "OK?"
The two agreed anxiously, and the others breathed a sigh of relief.
They finally have a plan and a temporary peace.
Soon after, several small boats approached the deserted coast, and on the Black Pearl, Elizabeth, Will, Tai Huang and a small group of pirates were also waiting anxiously.
Standing at the bow of the boat, Jack could make out something huge lying on the sand.
His eyes were wide open and his lips were tightly shut.
The landing party jumped into the water, towed the boat ashore, and finally managed to wrestle Pantel and Rajetti out of the water, who had unhooked themselves from the mast.
Suddenly, Pantel noticed what Jack saw.
He exclaimed: "My God!"
Jack and Barbossa climbed out of the boat, and all the pirates walked cautiously along the sand toward the thing, which looked like a giant whale.
After a few steps closer, everyone understood what it was.
That's a sea monster!
The huge sea monster lay dead on the sand, its tentacles splayed, its eyes huge but hollow.
The nightmare that scares Jack the most, the creature that chased him across the seas and killed him is now dead.
But Jack was resurrected.
Not sure how to react, Jack moved closer, approaching the creature with almost awe.
Pantel spotted a stick of driftwood on the ground nearby, picked it up, poked the sea monster with it, and jumped away, just in case.
"Be careful!" Rajetti said.
"Oh, you're quiet now, are you?" said Pantel sarcastically. "Big fish! You deserve it!"
